Stages of the Change

The Change has five stages, but only three of them are common.
�
One
First is The Start, the uncontrollable need to spill blood. Scientists are still baffled as to why blood eases the rage, but Changelings can experience prolonged periods of control after spilling it.
�
Two
Second, Mastering the Violence as it intensifies. Few get to this point because of how strong the Change is once it starts. Most are slaves to stage one all their lives.
�
Three
The third stage is Burn-out, with no rage left for defense of a mate. No pain and will to fight. Happiness and relief of the torment comes at a very high price.
�
Four
The fourth stage is Burn-up - snapping and killing whoever happens to be around. Many Changelings almost like this one. It is infinitely better to them than having no fire left at all, but there is also a legendary stage that has occurred only a dozen times in 500 years. It is one that all of those infected secretly long for.

And the final stage...Remission.
In this fifth cycle, the disease goes away, allowing for a normal life of anger and happiness in equal balance. No one knows for sure what combination of environment, diet, and daily life might accomplish it, but according to rebel rumor, there has to be freedom and love in equal measures.

I do not typically purchase many kindle books because there are so many free ones; however, after reading The Change (which was free) I HAD to buy the second book and am now getting ready to purchase her other series. Her books are unique and her imagination seems limitless. I love post-apocalyptic dystopia fiction and her books do not disappoint.

This series keeps getting better

I liked this one from the start. A few reasons - we didn't need the in-depth world-building and history that we got in the first book. Which, as a side note, it is imperative that you read these books in order, and as a series. If I would not have read the first book, I'd have been lost in this one. This is Angels book, whom we met in book one. Angel wins her mate Jason in the games, and ends up with the rebels. Again, I love the world that Ms White has built, I find it fascinating, the women as the strong ruling class, the men as the meek possessions. It's a combination of Hunger Games and Envy Chronicles, with a twist of shape changing/zombie/post-apocolypse goodness thrown in. Overall, I'm a huge fan, and I really hope we get a book 3 with Sam. I can't wait to find out what happens with the Network.

Angela is a master at writing and telling a story, just disappointed that now I have read all the series I have to wait for the rest now have all her books but not the last of all the series. waiting for the rest!!!

Great recipes! It is hard enough to balance all ...

I have been searching for a renal diet cookbook which had ORDINARY food in it. I want the recipes to contain ingredients which I normally have in my cabinets, not stuff I have to go buy special, pay big bucks for, and maybe never use again. This cookbook was right on target. I understand the food and the ingredients. Great recipes! It is hard enough to balance all the needs of a renal diet without understanding the ingredients. Thanks!

Susan did it again! This book is absolutely wonderful. She makes it so easy to read, and understand. Susan brings forward so many wonderful recipes that I know my patients will very much enjoy. They loved the first edition of the renal diet cookbook. The patients are no longer struggling to find what they can or can't eat; I highly recommend this book again to my patients with CKD.

The first part of the book (finally) spelled out my goals. I've never seen them all in one place. I cannot wait to try the recipes. There are so many that would look good if this were a traditional cookbook. The salad dressings were especially welcome.

Very good engineering oriented examination of Lagrange and Hermite polynomials leading up to splines including their uses in collocation and the Rayleigh-Ritz finite element method. Includes mesh-generation for two-dimensional boundary value problems and interpolations. Too bad this author only wrote this book. Lots of examples and pictures.

A fine survey of the great Mughal Empire, one of the "gunpowder empires" that developed across Eurasia in the early modern period. This book contains 2 major strands; the basic narrative history of the Empire, and the development of the Mughal state and its impact on Indian society. Richards presents these strands in a series of chapters alternating between narratives of the reigns of the Mughal Emperors and more topical chapters examining the nature of the Mughal state, economic, and some social history. The latest and arguably most successful in a series of invaders from Islamic central Asia, the Mughals were the inheritors of prior Indo-Muslim states in north India and a sophisticated Islamo-Persian political tradition. The Mughal founder, Babur, benefited from intelligent use of firearms combined with heavy cavalry.

Richards has an excellent series of analyses of the development and nature of the Mughal state. The early Mughal Emperors, particularly the highly intelligent (and illiterate) Akbar combined existing political traditions and some innovations to develop a relatively centralized state with formidable military and fiscal power. One key feature of the mature Mughal state was a cosmopolitan service nobility comprised of central Asians, Persians, Indo-Muslims, and Hindus. Somewhat in parallel was a sophisticated bureaucracy, staffed mainly by Hindus, able to consistently raise impressive amounts of revenue through direct taxation. Richards stresses that the Mughal bureaucracy penetrated in important ways to the local level and restricted, though incompletely, the power of local magnates. The Mughals had a considerable positive economic impact on India. Their success brought peace to much of India and they generally pursued policies aimed at economic expansion. These policies undoubtedly contributed to considerable population growth, agricultural expansion, increasing regional and inter-regional trade, and proto-industrialization. The Mughal tax system, which demanded specie, contributed significantly to the monetarization and marketization of the Indian economy. An interesting complement to the Mughal domestic economic expansion was considerable expansion of international trade, much by Europeans dominating the Indian Ocean. A great deal of the precious metals needed for Mughal currency was imported from the western hemisphere.

The linchpin of the Mughal system was the Imperial Court. The whole system depended on capable leadership from the center and the Mughals benefited from a series of very capable Emperors. The importance of Imperial leadership is illustrated also by Richards' description of the decline of the Empire in the late 17th and early 18th centuries. The last great Emperor, Aurangzeb, was a capable and conscientious leader but also a pious Muslim whose pursuit of orthodoxy had a negative impact on the legitimacy of the regime and relationships with Hindu aristocrats. The Mughal state was also built around conquest and expansion. Aurangzeb's unremitting pursuit of conquest in South India led to draining wars with pronounced negative effects. Typical of central Asian descended dynasties, the Mughals never developed a clear succession mechanism and each succession resulted in a civil war among Imperial princes. Coupled with other stresses, the final succession war fatally compromised the power of the Imperial court and resulted in an India comprised of a set of regional successor states. This was the chronically divided and conflict plagued subcontinent that permitted opportunistic European conquest.

This book is an excellent source of information about the mughal dynasty. It is written in a chronological manner and hence, easy to read and follow even for the novice user to this subject. The author has stuck to the main theme of the lives of the emperors themselves, their artistic contribution to India and the people that influenced them. The facts about the emperors especially Jahangir, Shahjahan , the Rajput kings, Shivaji's greatness and Shambhaji's misadventures makes it an interesting read. I feel that this book brings forth the facts that are not widely known or mentioned in school history books that brings forth some suprises and hence makes it an interesting read.

An excellent survey marred by too little attention to women

Dr. Richards' otherwise excellent book about the Mughal Empire is marred by his failure to pay very much attention to its women. Gulbadan is mentioned but once, Jodh Bai, Shah Jahan's mother, not at all, Nur Jahan and Mumtaz Mahal only peripherally. Are the Mughal chronicles themselves similarly silent about these women? Since Gulbadan wrote her own, one must say no.

It was awesome
It helps students who wanna study catia scripts. But It was a little difficult. So I do not recommend this book for beginners.

Good Book, but Requires Experience

Book is good content-wise, but don't buy it unless you are very proficient in CATIA. Also, I thought it was interesting that it was printed in China.

Basic, not a lot of examples

The first 141 pages of the book are good for the beginner. It goes through a lot of basic setup and functionality.

It does not link a lot of the the ideas together or give a lot of different examples.

The last 378 pages (Featured Object Class) are very similar to the V5Automation.chm file, which is disappointing, considering the price of the book. I would like examples that combine ideas and show how to chain all these functions together.

The preface touts "The theory of this book is supported in many places with sample macros...are available online at [...] for download." You go to the website, register by entering your name and email and a page pops up saying an email has been set to you with the URL needed to view this content. I have tried this several times and have never received the email.
